Irlandia Północna - jest 30 stycznia 1972 roku. Irlandczycy przeprowadzili pokojowy marsz protestacyjny przeciwko prawu internowania każdego kto jest podejrzany o terroryzm oraz przeciwko zakazowi organizowania zgromadzeń i demonstracji. Żołnierze brytyjscy otworzyli do nich ogień co doprowadziło do 14 ofiar śmiertelnych.

"Sunday Bloody Sunday" to utwór U2 z albumu War mówiący o tamtych makabrycznych wydarzeniach w Derry.

Utwór "New Year's Day" ma związek z naszą ojczyzną. Pojawił się na płycie "War" w 1983 roku. Tak, tak... stary ten kawałek (miałem wtedy 13 lat).
Początkowo Bono pisząc słowa, tworzył je z myślą o swojej żonie Ali. Miał to być utwór miłosny, jednak wydarzenia w Polsce zainspirowały Bono bardziej niż jego małżonka:) Działania Solidarności, wprowadzenie stanu wojennego i internowanie Lecha Wałęsy zmieniły oblicze "New Year's Day".
W 2004 magazyn Rolling Stone umieścił utwór na 427 miejscu listy 500 najważniejszych piosenek wszech czasów.

I taki rodzyneczek znaleziony w sieci. Ktoś ich takich pamięta jeszcze?
